Jhargaon ASA annex football title

JAGIROAD, Nov 13 - Jhargaon Anchalik Sports Association (ASA) emerged champions of the 14th Saruphul Deka and Maluk Charan Das Memorial Football Tournament defeating Borluit FC, Konwargaon 5-4 via tie- breaker at the Manaha High School play ground under Mayong Circle here today.

Earlier, the game ended in a 1-1 draw during the regulation time in which Babu Gogoi of Borluit opened the account in the 15th minute while Nilam Deuri of Jhargaon equalised in the 29th minute. In the tie-breaker, Nilam Deuri, Hope Bordoloi, Prem Pator and Sukesh Bordoloi netted for Jhargaon while Mukut Pator, Dhaniram Bordoloi and Putul Pator scored for Borluit.

Ranjit Bordoloi of Borluit was declared the best player of the final while Utpal Amish was adjudged as the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Noted dignitaries, including former Jagiroad MLA Bubul Das gave away the trophies at the closing ceremony. The tournament was organised by the Manaha Anchalik Sports Association in which 14 teams took part.
