Jeypore Rainforest Festival gets under way

DULIAJAN, Feb 11 � The Jeypore Rainforest Festival 2011 organised by State Government began today at Jeypore in Dibrugarh district with a three-day programme. The festival began with a colorful procession flagged off by Assembly Deputy Speaker and local MLA, Pranati Phukan.

MLA Phukan also inaugurated a website www.jeyporerainforest.com launched by the forest department on the occasion.

Attending the open session of the Rainforest Festival as the chief guest, Dibrugarh MP Paban Singh Ghatowar lighted the ceremonial lamp and announced a contribution of Rs 5 lakh from his MPLAD fund to the organising committee to establish an orchid farm at Jeypore.
