NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Sept 2 - Police on Sunday night recovered a statue of Jesus Christ made of fake gold in North Lakhimpur. The recovery was made following the arrest of two persons who had duped a customer from Delhi to buy the artefact.
The North Lakhimpur police led by the Addl Superintendent of Police, Pranab Kumar Pegu and Town Sub-Inspector P Chamuah arrested one Motibur Rahman and Sirajul Islam of No. 2 Sonapur village under Bihpuria Police Station.
The statue weighs 1 kg. The police also recovered two mobile phones from the arrested persons. The arrested persons were trying to dupe one Avinash Kumar from Delhi. This is the latest arrest in the illicit trade of fake gold in Lakhimpur district.
