JCB Bhillai take home OIL Challenge Trophy

DULIAJAN, Feb 24 � JCB Bhillai Brothers FC of Chattisgarh clinched the 6th Oil India Challenge Gold Cup, organized by Oil India Limited defeating Punjab Police of Jallandhar 4-2 via tie-breaker in the final played here at Nehru Maiden today. Charanjit of JCB initiated the scoring in the 38th minute which was equalized by Baljit Singh of Punjab Police in the 85th minute of the match. During extra time, the tally remained the same prompting match officials to opt for penalty shoot-out. In the tie-breaker, JCB players netted three goals while Punjab Police managed to score only one.

The chief guest of the closing ceremony NK Agarwal, RCE, OIL handed over the winning and runners-up trophies along with the cash prize of Rs 1,30,000 and Rs 70,000 to JCB Bhillai Brothers and Punjab Police respectively. MO Nick of Green Valley SC, Guwahati was adjudged the best scorer of the tournament with 4 goals while Xavier Estrociao of Vasco Sc, Goa got best goalkeeper award. Guman of JCb Bhillai was adjudged best player of the final match and Sanjay Boro of ASEB, Guwahati bagged the best player of the tournament award.

Today�s final was officiated by Debasish Mazumdar as referee and he was assisted by Rajib Saikia and Nasiruddin Ahmed. Juga Dutta was the match commissioner. In the closing ceremony, a souvenir was released by NK Agarwal. The function was attended by KK Nath, Executive Director (O), OIL and Dr Udayan Baruah, GM (MS) as guest of honour.
