GUWAHATI, Jan 16 � Former chairman of the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) and a noted sports organiser of the State Jatindra Kumar Bora, popularly known as Dipuda, died at his Lamb Road residence here this morning. He was 73.

He retired as chairman of ASEB in 2000 and was associated with several sports organisations. He was the president of the Guwahati Sports Association for several years. Bora was also the vice-president of Assam Football Association.

Bora was the livewire of the ASEB Football Club. He was the man behind in setting up the club and taking it to the present status. He was loved and respected by everybody for his efficiency and gentlemanly behaviour.

His death cast a pall of gloom among the sporting fraternity and his former colleagues. His body was taken to the ASEB Sports Club, GSA, AFA before performing the last rites at the Nabagraha cremation ground. His death was condoled by the AFA, GSA, Assam Sepak Takraw Association along with several sports organisations. He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter.
