Janata Dal (U) merges with NDPP in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, June 24 - The Nagaland State unit of Janata Dal (U) has merged with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on Monday. NDPP and Janata Dal (U) are ruling coalition partners in the People�s Democratic Alliance (PDA) Government in Nagaland.

The NDPP said it �warmly welcomes the official merger of the Janata Dal (U), Nagaland unit� with the former.

According to the NDPP, the members of the JD (U) led by Minister Kaito �decided to officially merge with the NDPP in order to strengthen the PDA Government in Nagaland and also further uphold and expedite the ongoing Framework Agreement�.

The official merger of the Janata Dal (U) Nagaland unit under the leadership of G Kaito Aye, Minister, along with the State executive members, office bearers and others took place in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, president of NDPP in Kohima, the NDPP said in a press statement.
