�Jananeta� Bhimbor Deori�s 71st death anniversary observed

SIVASAGAR, Dec 1 - Jananeta Bhimbor Deori�s 71st death anniversary was observed centrally by the Janagosthiya Samanayrakhi Samity in association with the District Deori Students� Union at the Demow public hall yesterday.

The Samity hosted a round table conference of about 20 different organisations on Bhimbor Deori�s contribution to Assam. Inaugurating the conference, Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, general secretary, AASU, said that the Jananeta took a bold step to safeguard the distinct identity of Assam in the grouping stage prior to partition. His good work is still relevant to Assamese lfe and culture, he added. Dr Debabrat Sarmah, Principal, Jorhat College, in his address said that it is not enough to remember Bhimbor Deori on his birth or death anniversary, but to make a systematic study of his role in the independence movement and publish research works.

Tarun Moran Baruah lit the ceremonial light while Arunjyoti Moran, president, Moran Students� Union and Pranjal Deori and Lalit Deori, president and adviser, Deori Students� Union paid floral tributes at the portrait of Bhimbor Deori. Pronob Chetia, working president, organising committee, delivered the welcome address while Ajoy Gogoi, president, organising committee and Lalit Deori presided over the deliberations. The meet was addressed among others by Sunjit Deori, secretary, Deori Students� Union, Nabin Juhori, president, Dimasa Students� Union, Vikrom Hanse, general secretary, Karbi Students� Union, Hafijul Ahmed, Goria Moria Students� Union, Dipjyoti Sarania, general secretary, Sarania Students� Union, Semson Terung, president, Karbi Students� Union, Raju Deori and Hargobinda Deori of Deori Jatiya Parishad, Subir Mech of Mech Kachari Jatiya Parishad, Praonobjyoti Handique of Asomiya Yuva Mancha, Dibya Khamti of TMOK, Bhuban Kalita of Kumar Jatiya Sanmilan, Naranath Chetia, former Principal, Demow College, Prof Pankaj Lochan Gogoi, Prof Naren Konwar, Chitradhar Deori, Hemanta Kumar Medhi and Fuleswar Handique.
