Jamiat�s Ramadan greetings

NAGAON, June 18 � Moulana Abdul Jalil Ragibi and Moulana Abdur Rashid, president and general secretary respectively of the State Jamiat Ulema E Hind, through a statement, have greeted the people of Assam on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Following the true spirit of holy Ramadan, Jamiat hoped that all the people of the State irrespective of religion, caste and creed will work for the unity, integrity and progress of the State.

In the same statement, State Jamiat opposed the compulsory participation of the people in Yoga Divas to be held on June 21. Jamiat is not against the practice of yoga but during the month of Ramadan it is difficult for Muslims to perform asanas.

Jamiat also opposed the directive on surya namaskar and the recitation of �Om� which is against the Islamic faith. Therefore, the State Jamiat has appealed to the Cente to delete these two directives.
