Jalukbari, Dispur named expenditure sensitive LACs

GUWAHATI, March 5 - District Election Officer of Kamrup (Metro) Dr M Angamuthu today said that the Dispur and Jalukbari LACs have been declared expenditure-sensitive in the wake of the ensuing Assembly polls.

He added that all the candidates will have to open separate bank accounts, and that the poll-related expenditure will be monitored in an effective manner. �Adequate flying squads and static surveillance teams will be on the job and all major rallies of political parties will be videographed,� he told newsmen here.

Of the 1,112 polling stations to be set up in the four LACs within the Kamrup (Metro), 100 have been marked very sensitive, while the number of sensitive ones stands at 255.

Further, 757 have been categorised as comparatively safe and 13 as critical. Besides, all the four LACs in Kamrup (Metro) will introduce the voter�s verifiable paper audit trail machine for the first time in the ensuing Assembly polls.

With a total of 10,00,797 voters, the four LACs within the Kamrup (Metro) include

51- Jalukbari, 52-Dispur, 53-Gauhati East and 54-Gauhati West. The total number of female voters stands at 4, 93,211. The number of �D� voters in all the four LACs is 4,833.

Besides, the number of service voters who include armed forces of the Union and armed forces posted outside the State and also those employed (Government) outside the country is 594.

Dr Angamuthu said that Dispur LAC with the highest number of voters will have 375 polling booths to facilitate exercise of franchise by 1,80,594 voters. He said that some booths will be developed as model polling booths.

He also released the District Election Management Plan along with a telephone directory, especially to address poll-related information and contact numbers.
