KALIABOR, Sept 8 - The Jakhalabandha First Referral Unit (FRU) will be upgraded to a subdivisional medical (SDM) Hospital soon. This was announced by Keshab Mahanta, Water Resource and Information Technology Minister at a function organised at the Jakhalabandha FRU premises recently.
The meeting which was presided over by K Sarma, a retired Principal in which the minister also inaugurated the National Mobile Medical Service Unit (NNMSU) for the tea gardens of Kaliabor. Officers of the Health Department, doctors, tea garden managers and members of the public attended the programme.
As per an agreement between the Assam State Health Samittee and Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust, this NMMSU will provide services to Seconee and Jagadamba tea estates in the first phase through which patients of the concerned gardens will be highly benefited. Keshab Mahanta further disclosed that the new SDM Hospital will have 100 beds. Mahanta also announced various works for welfare and development of tea garden areas. Earlier, Dr KK Saikia, Deputy Superintendent FRU explained the main objectives of the function.
