Jagadhatri puja at Dipila from tomorrow

DUNI, Oct 29 � Like in previous years, this year the 94th Dipila Jagadhatri puja mahotsav will be celebrated with a four- day-long traditional and religious programme at Dipila Jagadhatri Mandir from October 31. This puja is the oldest one in the entire west Darrang area.

The programme begin with a cleanliness drive. This will be followed by hoisting of devi�s dhwaja. Thereafter, social workers Manik Chandra Deka and Sarat Kalita will plant a few fruit saplings inside the campus of Jagadhatri temple. The first day�s programme will include adibas, presentation of palnaam etc.

The second day�s programme will begin with the presentation of �Malsi� song. Thereafter, Sunil Kumar Goswami, District Museum Officer, Darrang will formally release Jagadhatri, the mouthpiece of the puja committee at a meeting to be held under the presidentship of Dambarudhar Sarma, president of the editorial board. Seven distinguished teachers and social workers will be felicitated at the same meeting. Pradeep Kr Kalita, retired principal of Duni Higher Secodary School will inaugurate the felicitation programme. Besides this, ayotir naam, presentation of ojapali, arati competition, lighting of 94 earthen lamps are in the second day�s main programme.

Though the main puja programme will end on November 2, a seven-day-long continuous �Bhagabat� recitation programme will start from November 3. The organisers of the puja mahotsav celebration samiti have urged full participation of all sections of people on all the days of puja and �Bhagabat� recitation.

With a one-day long ritual event, the Jagadhatri puja will be celebrated at bank of Baji jan of Bheruadall village also near here.
