Items worth Rs 5 lakh stolen from Jorabat shop

JORABAT, Nov 17 - A theft was reported on Sunday morning at a mobile phone shop here � one of the biggest break-ins reported in the last few days.

A burglar broke into the mobile shop owned by Alok Das around 3.40 am. Das told the police that the theft came to light when his employee reached the shop in the morning.

On checking inside, the woman employee found a hole on the roof and mobile phones of different brands as well as mobile accessories, worth around Rs 5 lakh, missing. Cash amounting to Rs 12,000, which was kept in the cash counter, was also stolen.

The police said the video footage from the CCTV cameras revealed that one burglar broke into the shop, while another is suspected to have stood on the roof of the shop, to whom the first one supplied the stolen goods. Later, they fled with the cash and valuables.
