ITBP Bn celebrates 7th Raising Day

GUWAHATI, May 2 � The 7th Raising Day of 33rd Bn Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was celebrated at a function held at Sonapur on Thursday.

On the occasion, Suresh Kumar Yadav, Commandant took salute by a well-dressed contingent of ITBP, followed by an oath by all rank and file of the unit to serve the nation with dedication and courage.

Addressing the gathering, Yadav congratulated all men of the ITBP force for discharging their duty with commitment and determination during the Lok Sabha poll in Dhemaji, Karbi Anglong, Bongaigaon and internal security duty in Kokrajhar.

He further added that many unemployed youths of Sonapur area will get an opportunity to be recruited in the armed police forces of the country once a full fledged battalion of the ITBP is set up.

The celebration also featured a plantation drive, a medical camp and different entertaining sports activities for both adult and children and a cultural programme. Prizes were also distributed to the participants who emerged winners in different sporting events.

On the other hand, Shail Bala Yadav, chairperson, Himveer Wives Welfare Association, 33rd Bn ITBP, inaugurated the traditional Meena Bazar that drew a lot of attention on account of the home-cooked delicacies displayed in a tempting manner. She underlined the need to empower the local women so that they too can contribute towards the socio economic development of the area.

Rajeev Kumar, Assistant Commandant in his address said that the ITBP is planning to educate and train the youths of Sonapur so that they become self-reliant.
