Israeli Ambassador meets Sonowal

GUWAHATI, May 1 - Israeli Ambassador to India, Dr Ron Malka, called on Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati on Wednesday as the duo stressed on to maximize technological solutions in the fields of the Brahmaputra Water Management, innovations, student exchange, agriculture, flood control etc.

The 30 minutes meeting which was followed by lunch which the Chief Minister hosted in the honour of the Ambassador also emphasised on strengthening bilateral relations between Assam and Israel for mutual benefits where in Chief Minister Sonowal also requested Dr Ron Malka to impress upon Israeli Government to set up a Consulate Office in Guwahati.

The meeting also decided to work on forming a group of innovators who will be visiting Assam as well as Israel to scale up the skill quotient of the youth of the state. Referring to Israel�s technological advancement, Chief Minister Sonowal sought Israel�s assistance in the Brahmaputra Water Management system and to aid state�s verdant agriculture sector to enhance its output. Moreover, the duo also stressed on frequent student exchange programmes between Israel and Assam.

Dr. Ron Malka hailed the state�s tourism potential more particularly the state�s tea tourism and vowed to work together for the mutual benefits of both the geographical entities. He also said that both Israel and Assam would hold tour operators� programme to facilitate tourist exchanges. Chief Minister Sonowal also took note of Israel�s technological help in erecting fencing between Indo-Bangladesh border. Dr. Ron Malka also offered his help in furthering Assam-Israel relations in the strategic sectors for betterment of bilateral relations.
