Isolated places in State to experience moderate fog

GUWAHATI, Dec 2 - The Borjhar-based Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) here stated today that the State�s districts of Goalpara, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj today experienced moderate fog at isolated places.

State�s districts of Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Goalpara, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj are very likely to experience a similar condition, said the RMC.

The Mizoram districts of Mamit, Kolasib, Lunglei, Lawngtai, Saiha experienced a similar condition today and tomorrow also they are very likely to experience the same condition. The Manipur districts of Imphal West and Imphal East, Jiribam, Noney, Chandel, Churachandpur and Pherzawl experienced a similar condition and the same condition is very likely to recur in these districts.

The Nagaland districts of Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung and Mon experienced the same condition and tomorrow also the same condition is very likely to recur in these Nagaland districts, said the RMC.

The main cause of Northeast region�s fog, called radiation fog, is temperature inversion. It also requires light wind, cold and dry air, to spread. The fog over central and NE parts of Assam is usually connected with the passing of the western disturbance-induced rainfall activities.
