ISBT to come up in Lakhimpur

By Correspondent

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Dec 12 - North Lakhimpur town is likely to get some respite from the daily traffic snarls as the district headquarter is soon going to set up an Inter-State Bus Terminus.

The above was finalised following allocation of a Government plot of land near the National Highway-15 Bypass at Nalkata on the outskirts of the town.

A team constituted by North Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner on this matter selected the site at Nalkata under Nakari Mauza on Friday.

The committee consisted of the chairman of North Lakhimpur Municipal Board, chairman of North Lakhimpur Development Authority and traffic in-charge of North Lakhimpur police.

Construction of the Inter-State Bus Terminus here is expected to ease evergrowing traffic pressure within the town, where buses and other modes of transport are allowed to stand indefinitely and pick up or drop passengers on the roads, which often compounds the collective woes of the tax-payers as it invariably leads to traffic jams for long periods.
