Irregularities in sale of agricultural land

BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 13 - A public meet held at Amiya Bhawan at Bhirgaon here recently under the aegis of the Biswanath Chariali units of the AASU and the AJYCP demanded of the administration to stop the alleged ongoing irregularities in the sale of agricultural land in the Biswanath subdivision of Sonitpur district.

It was alleged by the speakers that some land brokers have sold a huge portion of agricultural land to buyers to be used for some other purpose by managing a section of personnel in the offices concerned. The meet chaired by veteran social worker Jiten Bhagawati also demanded a departmental inquiry into the matter, besides clearing encroachments on the premises of historical places and temples, punishing the guilty land mafia involved in the brutal attack on local villagers near Biswanath Chariali Maharshi Vidyalaya recently, and maintenance of peace and harmony in the area.

The meet was addressed by Biswanath Chariali Nagarik Santha president and secretary, Apurba K Das and Bidyut Sharma, respectively, AASU leader Duldul Borkataki, AJYCP leaders Dibyajyoti Baruah and Debabrat Medhi, AGSU functionary Dilip Gajural, social workers Dilip Kumar Baruah, Kamal Ch Bhuyan, Deepak Das, Bijay Goswami, etc.
