Irate public slam officials for postponing biometrics registration

By Correspondent

JORABAT, April 20 - Anger, confusion and disappointment prevailed in a National Register of Citizens Seva Kendra at Geetanagar here as people who made a beeline for registering their biometrics were told to come back another day.

Though the reason was not made clear to the public, the frustrated people told the media persons there to bring the issue to the notice of the authorities concerned.

An official called me up asking to come at 1 pm today and I reached the Seva Kendra about 30 minutes early but they told me along with a number of other people to come another day, said Sujit Giri, a resident of Kalapahar.

He further told that it is not possible for him to spend money every time for visiting the centre.

Many people informed that they took off from their work for the purpose and blamed the officials concerned for unnecessarily harassing the people.

It was also reported that such incidents have taken place many times at this centre earlier.
