MUMBAI, June 10 (PTI): The Indian Premier League�s Governing Council will meet here on June 25, BCCI sources said today.
�It will be a regular meeting to take stock of things,� the sources said.
It is not clear whether the members would discuss the suspended IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi�s replies to the show cause notices issued to him by the Board.
The Board has slapped three show cause notices charging Modi with misdemeanours in the running of the Twenty20 League.
Modi has replied to two of these notices and also demanded through another letter that BCCI President Shashank Manohar and Secretary N Srinivasan recuse themselves from any future disciplinary proceeding against him.
The new players� auction ahead of IPL IV is another important issue that would crop up at the GC meeting to be chaired by the IPL�s interim head Chirayu Amin.
The issue of retention of a specific number of Indian and overseas players by the original eight franchisees is contentious with the addition of two new franchise outfits � Pune and Kochi � into the IPL fold.
Opinions are divided over the number of players who can be retained by these original franchise for season IV and beyond.
The GC would discuss at length how best to schedule IPL IV within a stipulated time period with a tight international schedule next year coupled with the addition of two new teams leading to extra matches confronting it.
Because of the onset of the monsoon by the first week of June, logistically the tournament cannot be extended late into that month.
The first two editions had 59 games squeezed into a month and a half time period while IPL III had an additional game to decide the third placed team.
