IPFTs final decision on LS poll today

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, March 16 - The crucial central committee meeting of Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT), partner in the States coalition government, will recommence on Sunday to finally decide on the partys nomination for the States two Lok Sabha seats and its relation with the dominant partner the BJP.

The partys central committee held a protracted meeting on Saturday in the Dasharath Deb Bhawan complex here and discussed threadbare the partys relation with the BJP and whether to fight the Lok Sabha polls separately. The BJP has already rejected the IPFTs demand for contesting at least in East Tripura Parliamentary constituency.

There has been a growing demand from within IPFT to declare party candidates in both the Lok Sabha constituencies as its demand was summarily rejected by BJP leaders.

Senior IPFT leader and party spokesperson Mangal Debbarma said that the party central committee will meet again and take a final call on the issue of Parliamentary elections. We are waiting to see how BJP central leadership go about the process of nomination with the approval of the central committee, he said.
