AGARTALA, Sept 7 - A five-member delegation of the Indigenous People�s Party of Tripura (IPFT), an ally of the BJP in Tripura, will meet BJP national working president JP Nadda in Delhi on September 10.
The meeting assumes significance in view of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections to be held next year.
Lately, cracks have appeared in the alliance between the BJP and the IPFT over certain issues with the latter planning to contest the tribal council elections on its own. The IPFT had even contested the Lok Sabha polls without any understanding with the BJP.
Against this backdrop, Nadda has invited the IPFT leaders for a discussion in a bid to sort out �differences� before the TTAADC elections.
IPFT spokesman Mangal Debbarma said that the party�s central executive committee would meet here on September 8 to prepare the groundwork for the meeting in Delhi. There will also be a meeting of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), a platform of NE political parties led by the BJP.
�The meeting of the NEDA is scheduled to be held in Guwahati on September 9. Our delegation will leave for Delhi to meet the BJP working president after attending the NEDA meeting,� Debbarma said.
The Congress, with the support of some regional political forces, has been gearing up for the upcoming TTAADC polls. PCC president Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has been striving to consolidate the party�s organisational base with the help of the tribal parties except the IPFT.
