IOCL conducts mock drill on bomb disposal

GUWAHATI, Nov 5 - Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) today carried out an awareness programme on �Bomb Threat Contingency Plan�, including a mock drill on bomb disposal, at its Betkuchi POL Terminal located at Betkuchi here.

The drill was conducted in association with experts from the Bomb Disposal Squad of 261, Counter Explosives Device Unit (CEDU), Indian Army, Narengi.

Experts from 261 CEDUs were deputed along with various bomb detection, disposal and protection equipment and gadgets. Teams from Gorchuk PS and Lokhra Fire and Emergency Services also participated in the drill.

Aspects of IEDs were also explained in detail. The team led by Major Mohit Malik from 261 CEDU spoke on the risk on oil installations from enemy nations and insurgent groups and explained the roles to be played by IOCL employees and security guards during such eventualities.

Sumathy Mohan, Location-In-Charge, Betkuchi Terminal of IOCL, urged all stakeholders to be alert and sensitise the employees and security guards to report immediately whenever there is any suspicion of bombs, IEDs or other security-related threats.
