IOC promotes digital transactions at fuel pumps

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Nov 16 - Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) is taking steps to promote cashless economy by placing digital transaction modes at nearly all its petrol pumps, said Uttiya Bhattacharyya, head of the marketing division of IndianOil in the NE, here today.

Speaking at the launch of a special Paytm cashback campaign scheme for customers, he said among the various benefits of having a cashless economy include increased transparency and faster transactions.

Bhattacharyya said while the world has moved to cashless payment mode nearly a decade ago, the Indian economy has been held back from moving towards that direction even though the technology is available. The new cashback campaign will continue till December 14.

Other senior officials from IndianOil were also present during the launch.

Under the cashback campaign, a customer can avail a cashback benefit for transactions via Paytm. The campaign will run across the North East in over 250 IndianOil petrol pumps.
