NEW DELHI, March 4 - The Centre has proposed to set up a special dedicated desk of �Invest India� for the northeastern region. The desk will take up investment targeting, promotion, facilitation and website development for the northeastern states.
In reply to a Lok Sabha question by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said the facilities to be extended to the region also includes training and capacity building, creation and structuring of state investment teams, advisory for investment summits, etc. These activities will be undertaken in close coordination with the state governments, he added.
A team within Invest India has been identified to help with the activities of the special Northeast desk, he said, adding that development of the promotional website has already been initiated. A project has also been undertaken to identify the most prominent industrial clusters in each of the eight states of the Northeast, Dr Singh said.
