GUWAHATI, Jan 10 - The first Srimanta Sankaradeva International Festival 2016, organised by the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Samaj, concluded yesterday evening.
Organised with the objective to showcase and promote the contributions of the Vaishnavite saint and reformer on national and international platforms, the festival received tremendous response from the people.
The highlight of the festival was the staging of Parijat Haran, the ankiya play written by Srimanta Sankaradeva, by a group of artistes from France in the French language.
The concluding function was presided over by vice president of the Kalakshetra Samaj, Surjya Hazarika in which educationist Amalendu Chakrabarty of Gauhati University was the chief guest. A souvenir was also released on the occasion.
A total of 170 research scholars read out their international research papers during the festival, said an official statement.
