DOOMDOOMA, Oct 2 - Tinsukia District Senior Citizens� Association (TDSCA) in collaboration with its Doomdooma branch observed the International Day for Older Persons at Doomdooma College on Tuesday. The annual general council meeting of TDSCA was also held on the same day.
The programme began with the hoisting of flag and smriti tarpan. Later a meeting was held with TDSCA president Thaneswar Das in the chair. The meeting was inaugurated by retired Principal of Doomdooma College Dr Prafulla Medhi. Retired Professor of Tinsukia College Dr Jyoti Prasad Chaliha delivered a lecture on the topic �The role of senior citizens in making a healthy society�, retired Principal of Saikhowa Higher Secondary School Pranati Baruah delivered a lecture on the topic, �The role of mother in making their children good citizens.�
Meanwhile synchronizing with the 65th Wild Life Week, honorary conservator of wildlife Jainul Abedin delivered a lecture on the topic, �The role of senior citizens in conservation of wildlife.�
Three senior citizens from Phillobari, above 80 years of age, were felicitated in the programme. Earlier, Beena Deka, the president of Doomdooma Senior Citizens� Association welcomed the guests.
Later in the day, the annual general council meeting of TDSCA was held in the same venue. Both the programmes were anchored by TDSCA secretary Ramesh Goswami.
