International Vedic conference ends at Gamiri

BISWANATH CHARIALI, March 19 - The four-day International Vedic conference which began on March 16 concluded successfully at the Adi Shankaracharya Kshetra at Gamiri under Gohpur sub-division in Biswanath district today.

The conference was held under the aegis of Sriguru Shankaracharya Ved Vidyalaya and Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratisthan, Ujjayini. The conference got under way with flag hoisting followed by a colourful cultural procession that moved around the greater Gamiri area.

Bihu Husori, Mising Ainitom, Nepali Sangini, Bangla Kirtan, Arunachali Nichi culture, Bhaona etc added flavour to the procession on day one. The second day�s programme started with Yoga Pranayam and Ved Poojan in which around 65 experts coming from different parts of the country chanted slokas from the Vedas. It was followed by inaugural of the conference which was formally declared open by Tulasi Charan Upadhyaya.

A good number of experts on the Vedas from abroad and the country, including Dr Achan Budha Charan from Thailand, Nich Gardena from Serbia, Dr Luchi Gert from England, NASA scientist Dr Om Prakash Pandey from the USA, Swami Purna Satyena from the Netherlands, Dr Hari Prasad from Varanasi, Additional Deputy Commissioner and SDO(C) in-charge of Gohpur sub-division Sanjay Dutta, among others, took part in the inaugural session.
