GUWAHATI, March 26 - Neelabh Jyoti Borthakur shocked top seed Y Dhanabir Singh of Manipur in the 6th round of the 3rd Assam Downtown University International Open Rating Chess Tournament today. Neelabh displayed some amazing defensive skill to snatch a win against top seed Dhanabir who is more than 300 rating points ahead of him. He continued his giant killing spree and defeated 4th seeded Mrinal Kakati in the 7th round and faces Trailokya Nanda in round 8 on the top board who had defeated 2nd seed Appolosana Mangang Rajkumar in the 7th round.

After the completion of 7 rounds, Trailokya Nanda and Neelabh Jyoti Borthakur lead the tournament on 6.5 points each. They are followed by a group of 6 players on 5.5 points each, stated a release.
