GUWAHATI, Dec 25 � �Kala Samannaya� � an international art festival being organised by the �Aesthetic� group of artists, will be held on the Shilpgram premises near Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari, here from January 3 to 8 next, stated a press release.
Altogether 37 artists working in different visual and performing arts like painting, sculpture, installation art, video art, dance and music, will take part in the event. Painters, sculptors and artistes from different countries are also expected to take part in the festival that will also have panel discussions, demonstration and cultural programmes. A prominent feature of the event will be an art camp of four-day duration from January 3 to 6.
The artists from abroad include Barbara Ash from London, Katarina Rasic from Serbia, Jana Bednarova from Slovakia, Jedsada Tangtrakulwong from Thailand and Abdul Salam and Joya Shahrin Huq from Bangladesh. The participants hailing from various parts of India will include Chand Kumar, Hari Prajapat, Arun Kumar, Nitin, Ravi Saini, Vijay Kumar, Bhuvanesh Kumar, Ajinkya, Ankita Mishra, Aaiushi Beniwal, Viral Pandya, Namrata Sneha, Chirantan Mukherjee, Milton Bhattacharya, Kundan Vamshi Toleti, Gagan Bihari Mandal, Sikan Kumar Panda, Jeetin Rangher, CS Sheetal, Parul Golcha, Vipin Verma, Dhiraj Pradhan, Kishor Kr Das, Debananda Ulup, Hiranya Mahanta, Nivedita Thakuria, Anushmita Bhardwaj, Surya Boruah, Sanjib Roy, Anup Dutta and Jyotirmoy Bhuyan.
Pandit Vidyadhar Mishra (vocal) from the Banaras gharana and the �Fa Ensemble� group (instrumental music) from Estonia will present cultural items during the festival. The cultural performances that are slated to be presented on two consecutive days are �A Spiritual Evening� (January 7) and �A Journey of Rock� (January 8). Vocalist Rajashree Baruah and classical dancer Purabi Padmalakshmi Baruah will perform on the first day, while the second day�s programme will have performances by some artistes from Assam. On January 7, a discussion on art appreciation will be held.
Meanwhile, as a promotional activity ahead of the festival, a massive wall painting has been completed by young artist Sanjib Roy and fellow artists at the State Seed Corporation office at Panjabari on the theme �Save Rhino�.
The idea behind creating art of different genres on a single platform is to convey a message that people can co-exist peacefully despite their inherent differences, said Harekrishna Talukdar of the Aesthetic group.
