GUWAHATI, Jan 13 - Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati, will play host to a galaxy of Olympian artists from 37 countries in a mega event, scheduled to be held from January 16 to 22. The event is being organised by the Olympic Fine Arts Association (OFAA), Finland, in association with Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, with the support of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Assam, said an official press release here.

The week-long event called Olympia Fine Arts International Exhibition and Symposium (OFAIES) 2016 will see 47 master artists perform live on the Kalakshetra and Shilpgram premises in the first-of-its-kind exhibition of live paintings to be hosted by India.

Announcing the event, Narayan Konwar, secretary of the Kalakshetra Society, said that the hosting of the event would be a boon for established and aspiring artists of the region, besides providing an enriching experience to the younger generation. The event will also help promote Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra as a forum for the promotion of art and culture at the international level, he added.
