By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 1 Shiladitya Dev, BJP youth leader from Assam has been appointed as one of the national secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kishan Morcha.

Shiladitya Dev has been serving the party for the last two decades. He held the post of the State general secretary of the partys youth wing in Assam at one time.

He also served as assistant private secretary to union ministers during the BJP led NDA Government. Dev said that he would give priority to the North East States and concentrate in the development of the region and securing the rights of the farmers particularly in Assam.

The newly appointed national secretary said that he would work towards safeguarding the interests of the indigenous farmers of Assam who are losing their agricultural land to the Bangladeshi infiltrators. It needs to be mentioned here that one of the major issues in the partys agenda is highlighting the encroachment on both religious and arable land in the State allegedly by the Bangladeshis.

Dev further asserted that the party would put pressure on the State Government and the Central Government to enact relevant laws for protection of the land of the farmers and promotion of their produce with better price.

As of date, the farmers are not getting the due price for their output, mentioned Dev, further pointing out that the farmers of the State were plagued by many problems which the government was yet to solve.

On the other hand, referring to the soaring prices of all essential commodities including food grain, the BJP youth leader said that the inflation has hit hard all sections of the society including the farmers. The price rise of essential commodities has only benefited the middleman and not the farmers, he said.
