Interactive session on skill development held

GUWAHATI, July 15 - On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day today, an interactive session on skill development to improve youth employment was held at the ITI for Women at Rehabari in the city.

Pallab Lochan Das, Minister, Labour and Employment, Shyam Lal Mewara, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour & Employment, Nitin Kumar Shivdas Khade, Secretary, Labour & Employment, and other officials of the Labour and Employment Department, Government of Assam attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Pallab Lochan Das said that the more than 20 lakh unemployed youth in the State needed to be employed soon in a planned way as part of the Government�s agenda. He also stressed on the opening of a Skill Development Department in the State.

In his welcome address, P Rabha, Director, Employment and Craftsman Training, Assam appealed to the new generation to earn knowledge on skill development so that their capacity could fully develop. Representatives from organizations such as Lakme, Hyundai Motors, Gram Tarang Employability Training Service, Tata Motors etc., assured the officials of cooperation in the field of skill development.
