By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 3 In an interactive session on Former President Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam: Lessons we should all learn from his life, Padma Shri award winner Dr Nirupam Bajpai exhorted students to be highly inquisitive with the courage to ask questions.

He was addressing the students at the Royal Group of Institutions (RGI) here today.

Dr Bajpai is a special advisor to the Executive Vice President for Global Centres and Global Development, Columbia University and Senior Development Advisor, Earth Institute, Columbia University.

The true Bharat Ratna Dr Kalam had contributed his lifetime rendering services to the nation as a scientist, science administrator, statesmen and is well known as a firebrand of India. He has been a man of the masses who always dreamt of India to be a developed country, Bajpai said.

Dr Nirupam Bajpai spoke on Dr APJ Abdul Kalams take on life. If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam wanted young Indians to have courage to think out of box, courage to think for others first, to travel the unexplored path, courage to think and rethink before they act, and to conquer the problems and succeed, he said.

A leader must have vision and passion and not be afraid of any problem. Instead, he should know what he will like to remembered for. Most importantly, he must work with integrity, he further added.

Making a special mention of Dr Kalams upcoming book Advantage India to be released on October 15, Dr Bajpai urged all to read Dr APJ Abdul Kalams books. His life teaches us enormous lessons and it would be a tragedy if we forget his lessons, he said.
