GUWAHATI, May 15 - Young Indians (Yi), the youth arm of the Confederation of Indian Industries today organised a daylong interactive programme for the children of SOS Childrens Village, Airport Road, launching their initiatives for the year 2016-2017 called Masoom Health & Nutrition and Thought Leadership.
The members of the chapter actively interacted with the children. The Masoom initiative in collaboration with Childline, is an effort to address the issue of child abuse and hence make the child aware about Good Touch, Bad Touch. A video screening on the topic was shared, along with an interactive ice-breaking session with the felicitators and children.
Through the Health & Nutrition vertical, a free eye and dental check-up was organised, followed by distribution of free medicines for the entire village. To kick-start The Human Library series under the Thought Leadership Initiative, members of the chapter posed as books with a theme and a story, wherein the children of classes IX and X enthusiastically participated to read these books, and asked questions.
It is a part of our endeavour to give back to society; through our initiatives Masoom, Health & Nutrition and Thought Leadership Human Library Series, we are committed to the cause of helping disadvantaged sections, highlight issues of concern, invoke creative thinking and thereby play a role in nation building, thought leadership and social entrepreneurship, Mehtaj Zaman Ahmed, chairperson, Young Indians, Guwahati Chapter, said.
