Inter-varsity youth festival at TU

TEZPUR, Dec 31 - The 31st university youth festival called �Brahmaputra Mahotsava 2016� for the eastern India will be held at Tezpur University from January 3 with a five-day programme under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities and with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Dr Rajib Kumar Doley, Director of Centre for Inclusive Development, Tezpur University, said that Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, will be the chief guest and Ram Prasad Sarmah, Member of Parliament, Tezpur Constituency, Prof Birendranath Datta and Prof Furqan Qamar, secretary general of AIU, will be the guests of honour in the inaugural function. This will be followed by cultural programme and regional seminar.

Next day, the programme will begin with staging of a one-act play, presentation of western group songs, western vocal (solo), classical instruments (NP), poster making contest, skit, folk tribal dance, debate and quiz competition, cartooning, clay modelling and installation etc.

The programme of January 5 includes presentation of skit, classical dance and vocal, mime, photography, rangoli etc. On January 6, mime, light vocal, folk orchestra, mimicry etc., will be the major attraction of the day. The curtain of the mega event will fall on January 7 at 10 Am with a valedictory programme.
