Inter varsity youth fest begins at RGU

GUWAHATI, Nov 11 - The 35th Inter University East Zone Youth Festival (UNIFEST) 2019-20 began today at the Royal Global University (RGU) here with a cultural procession in which all the 23 participating university teams depicted the cultural ethos of their respective states and regions, said a press release.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamps and felicitation of the chief guest and the guests of honour.

In his speech, chief guest ADGP Mukesh Agrawal encouraged the contingents to be a part of the mega event wholeheartedly making their stay in Guwahati a fruitful one and take back positive memories. He said winning and losing form part and parcel of a student�s life, but it�s the experience of it that shapes them in future.

Singer Kalpana Patowary who was one of the guests of honour, sang a few lines of Bihu and Bhojpuri songs.

RGU Chancellor AK Pansari encouraged the participants and said that perseverance and hard work always pay dividends. RGU VC and patron Prof SP Singh welcomed all the participants and motivated them to make the best use of the opportunity.

Other guests present on the occasion included � Dr Mallika Kandali, Satriya exponent; Jatin Goswami, Satriya exponent; Dulal Roy, eminent theatre director; Kapil Bora, actor; Prof KPS Shante, AIU observer; AK Modi, Pro Chancellor of RGU; Angira Mimani, RGU Registrar and cultural coordinator; students, staff and faculty.
