ITANAGAR, Feb 1 - In a major development, the high-powered inter-ministerial committee on SARDP-NE (Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for North East) on Thursday cleared the Arunachal Pradesh Governments proposal of Rs 3,988.98 crore for the Potin-Pangin Road (National Highway-13) project.

The committee divided the entire stretch of 351.38 km of the Potin-Pangin road into three packages having a length of more than 100 km each and costing more than Rs 1,000 crore of civil works so that petty problems which might delay the project, could be sorted out.

This was stated in a communique from the Chief Ministers Office here. As directed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, State Chief Secretary Satya Gopal attended the 79th meeting of the high-powered inter-ministerial committee on SARDP-NE to explain in detail the importance of the road project. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

The Secretary of MoRTH asked the Chief Secretary to be present in the pre-bid meeting to be held at Itanagar so that bidders could be told about the necessity of completing the project in a time-bound manner.
