GUWAHATI, Dec 27 - The 39th All Assam Inter District Chess championship 2015 (Age Category) got underway here today. Altogether 340 players from various districts of Assam including Guwahati, Kamrup, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Jorhat, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Golaghat, GTC Chess Foundation, PC Barooah Chess Academy, Darrang, Cachar, Sonitpur and Lakhimpur are participating in this official chess championship from which the state team in each of the age category of Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, Under 19 and Women�s will be selected to represent the state in their respective National championships next year.

Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by eminent writer and Sahitya Academy Awardee Kuladhar Saikia, ADGP, Assam Police in the presence of Atanu Lahiri, International Master and former Commonwealth Chess Champion and coach, Dilip Dutta Choudhury, Chairman, Assam Jatiya Bidyalay Management committee among other dignitaries.

The tournament is being conducted by M Arun Singh as chief arbiter and he is being assisted by Manik Dutta, Dipak Patgiri, Salina Masum, Monimala Sinha, Pranab Kumar Nath, Padma Gogoi, Khanindra Barman, Sahmin Abdul, Bipin Singha and Ravikant Tiwari as deputy arbiters.
