Inter college kickboxing from July 15

GUWAHATI, June 17 - The Assam Kickboxing Association (AKA), in collaboration with the Pragjyotish College will conduct the Inter College Kickboxing Championship in the Pragjyotish College premises here from July 15 to 17.

Addressing the media in a press conference here today, the AKA secretary Biswajit Kakoty said apart from the inter college meet, they are also planning to host a inter school kickboxing meet from July 25 to 27 at the LOG Hindi High School. Five events will be conducted in the inter college meet while there will be four events in the inter school meet, informed Kakoty.

The organisers have prepared a budget of Rs 5 lakh for the inter college meet and Rs 4 lakh for the inter school tournament.

For the inter college championship colleges can send a team of five players.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Higher Education and Directorate of Secondary Education have instructed the colleges and junior colleges to take part in the championship.

Kakoty expected good number of players in both the upcoming tournaments and hoped that the tournaments will be organised in a befitting manner.

Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, former VC of the Gauhati University was also present in the press conference.
