Inputs invited over Forest Dwellers Act

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, May 25 The Joint Committee set up by the Union Ministries of Environment and Forest and Tribal Affairs has invited inputs from local committees and civil society organisations, among others on the issue of implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006. The Joint Committee was set up by the Ministries to inquire into the status of implementation of the above Act, and also to suggest ways and means for its smooth implementation.

Government agencies, researchers and others who have information and observations on the issue may also send their inputs. However, the Committee clarifies that its mandate is not to review the Act but to ensure its smooth implementation. Interested persons may write to [email protected].
