Inner Wheel Club team visits jail inmates

GUWAHATI, Sept 19 - Members of Inner Wheel Club of Guwahati East visited the Guwahati Central Jail on September 16 to observe International Day of Peace among the prisoners, according to a press release issued here today.

The jail authorities helped the group to have intimate discussions with the prisoners on different aspects of society to maintain peace and harmony. Jail Superintendent B Saikia and Deputy Superintendent R Buragohain were also present during the discussions.

Social activist Lakhimi Goswami and Dr Chandan Rajkhowa spoke on the occasion on different aspects to maintain peace and harmony in society and emphasised that due to misguidance, people commit mistakes and create disharmony in society, but with self-introspection one can reform himself to contribute towards overall peace and harmony.

They praised the jail authorities for maintaining an excellent atmosphere in the jail compound for physical and mental health of the prisoners and thereby creating a congenial atmosphere for their reformation so that they can go back to normal social life and contribute positively for a better life in society after their release from jail.

Both the Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent were felicitated with gamosas by the visiting team. Biscuits were distributed among the prisoners.
