DIPHU, Feb 23 - As the state Assembly election is nearing, infrastructure development works have been speeded up in Karbi Anglong hill district. Implementation of different schemes as well as infrastructure development works under the Social Welfare department, KAAC are being carried out smoothly.
On Monday, Premala Beypi, the EM for Social Welfare Department, KAAC accompanied by Kirla Teronpi, District Social Welfare Officer, Suren Saha, Senior Statistical Assistant and other officials of the said department, laid the foundation stone of staff quarters for Social Welfare department employees and a godown at the District Social Welfare Office complex.
The staff quarters and the godown will be constructed under the Vocational Training cum Rehabilitation Centre (VTRC) and Training cum Production Centre (TCPC). Besides, modern equipment for bookbinding, paper-cutting, and stitching machines etc., were officially inaugurated.
It may be mentioned here that the youths who are interested in handicraft will benefit the most. Besides, comprehensive steps have been adopted for women empowerment by promoting job-oriented skill development training. With this aim and objective, the Vocational Training cum Rehabilitation Centre (VTRC) Training cum Production Centre (TCPC) concept was adopted.
