GUWAHATI, Sept 20 The Assam Government will publish a White Paper on the steps taken to deal with the problem of illegal migration of foreigners on October 7. This was disclosed by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a meeting of Ministers and office-bearers of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) this morning.

Congress sources told The Assam Tribune that the meeting demanded that the parties like the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should also publish such white papers on the steps taken by the parties on implementation of the Assam Accord during their tenures in the State and at the Centre.

The Chief Minister told the meeting that only agitations by the Opposition parties would not help in solving the problem of illegal migration. He said that if the Opposition parties are sincere in dealing with the problem of illegal migration, they should come forward to cooperate with the Government in finding a solution to the problem.

The meeting also decided to bring out peace rallies in Guwahati and all the district headquarters of the State on October 2 coinciding with the Gandhi Jayanti.

The meeting further decided that an all-party meet would be held soon on the situation in the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD) areas.
