Induction meet held at IGNOU DKD College centre

DERGAON, Oct 7 - The induction meeting for the newly-enrolled learners of Dergaon Kamal Dowerah (DKD) College study centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held at the college premises recently.

The meeting chaired by the coordinator of the centre Dr Khireswar Loying and moderated by the assistant coordinator Dr Parashmoni Thakur was inaugurated by senior Academic Counsellor in the department of Library and Information Science (LIS) Sanjoy Kumar Hazarika.

In his inaugural address, Hazarika explained the different aspects of IGNOU study system.

�If any learner takes the courses of IGNOU seriously then she/he will be obviously benefited as its courses are high in standard,� he said.

�Timely submission of assignment and projects is the main criteria in IGNOU system of study,� he added.

Disclosing the facts about Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) introduced by the university as per the guidelines of UGC, the assistant coordinator Dr PK Thakur through his welcome address said that IGNOU had introduced CBCS for General Bachelors Degree Programme for the July 19 session with five choices under Core Courses (CC), Discipline Specific Electives (DSE), Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) and Generic Electives (GE) for Bachelor of Arts (BAG) while only first four choices are allowed for Bachelor of Commerce (BCOMG) and Bachelor of science (BSCG) programmes.

Addressing the gathering Hassan Ullah of IGNOU Regional Office, Jorhat explained the memos which would be checked by every learner after they got enrolled in any IGNOU course.

The coordinator of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University Kushal Chandra Pujari welcomed the learners to the field of open and distance learning (ODL).

Academic Counsellors Dr Sahanur Rahman, R Koiri also spoke on the occasion while Arun Dutta, Jitul Dutta assisted the coordinator.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Parashmoni Thakur.
