Indreswar Sarma�s death condoled

GUWAHATI, June 10 - President of Journalists� and Literary Pensioners� Association DN Chakravartty in a statement condoled the death of Indreswar Sarma, one of the most outstanding violinists and a great exponent of classical music of the country.

Recalling Sarma�s musical genius and exemplary qualities of head and heart, Chakravartty described him as one of the most illustrious sons of Assam in the field of art and music.

�He will be remembered by posterity along with the likes of Lakshmiram Baruah, Charu Bardoloi, Birendranath Phukan, Jogeswar Goswami and Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

Chakravartty requested the Government of Assam to confer an appropriate honour, even posthumously, to Sarma in recognition of his great contributions.
