Indo-Myanmar car rally flagged off

GUWAHATI, March 10 � The North East Federation on International Trade (NEFIT) in association with Assam Speed and Adventure Club, Guwahati flagged off the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Car Rally, covering a distance of about 5000 km from Guwahati to Yangon via Dimapur, Kohima, Imphal, Moreh (India), Tamu (Myanmar) and Mandalay, from March 11. The rally will start from here tomorrow morning.

Around 16 cars with more than 70 persons are participating in the event. This car rally is supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and State Governments of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland. The first leg of the car will begin from Guwahati and then it will proceed to Imphal towards Myanmar. Many more Indian and foreign participants would be joining the second leg of the rally at Imphal on the March 13.

The main theme of the event is � Mapping connectivity in the perspective of North east India and Myanmar, focusing on building bilateral relations, culture, tourism and trade.

This car rally routes will cover some of the most remote areas on earth and spectacular places of North-east India and Myanmar. In fact, it will pass through almost the entire country side of Myanmar. Besides, the event will be marked by special programmes.
