GUWAHATI, Nov 17 - Representatives of the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber visited the Miles Bronson Residential School here on Monday as a part of their initiative to offer counselling for exploring undergraduate admission opportunities in colleges and universities of Canada to students of East and Northeast India.
The students of 11th and 12th standards attended the career counselling session presided over by the founder and principal of the school, Dr NK Dutta.
In his brief address, Dr Dutta cited three reasons as to why today�s generation should go abroad for education. The first reason is the reputation of the university that offers a wide range of scholastic and co-scholastic courses. The other two reasons he referred to are the facilities that include not only the infrastructure, but also the highly influential faculty members and the environment that espouses the cause of global community.
Ivy Lerner-Frank, First Secretary, Education High Commission of Canada in India, opened the session with a video followed by a detailed description of undergraduate courses in the universities of Canada, the criteria of admission, scholarships available, assistance in securing passport/visa, placement, etc.
Sanjeev Verma, First Secretary, Immigration, and Joyanti Saikia, Trade Commissioner Assistant, intimated the students about the support in all official matters related to immigration, etc., a release stated.
Representatives of Camosun College, Capilano University, Centinnial College, Lakehead University, Ryerson University, Seneca College, University of British Columbia, University of Ottawa, to name a few, also had a one-to-one session with the students.
