Indo-Bangla border in Karimganj closed

SILCHAR, March 13 - Following government directives, the India-Bangladesh land border at Sutarkandi and riverine border at Kali Bari Ghat in Karimganj district have been closed as preventive measures to check the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), DIG (Southern Range) Dilip Kumar Dey, said on Friday.

Talking to The Assam Tribune, the DIG said, �As per government instructions, the land and riverine borders with Bangladesh have been closed to check the spread of virus. The order shall remain in effect until further orders.�

Meanwhile, the Cachar district administration has geared to form quarantine facilities at Assam University, Silchar and NIT Silchar as preparatory measure to check the spread of coronavirus in this part the State.

Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner JR Lalsim said, �Authorities of Assam University, Silchar and Director, NIT Silchar have been requested to arrangement for quarantine facilities at their institutions with capacity to accommodate at least 30 persons.�
