SHILLONG, Feb 10 - Indian dominance continued in the South Asian Games with the Table Tennis team making a clean sweep of the gold medals while the Wushu team grabbed half of the 19 gold that were competed for, here today.
In table tennis, India won seven gold and five silver. Today, the rivalry between Mouma Das and Manika Batra continued with the more experienced Mouma defeating the reigning champion Manika 13-15, 12-10, 7-11, 15-13, 11-8, 11-13, 11-9 in a gruelling women�s final at the JN Indooor stadium.
However, Manika together with Pooja Sahasrabudhe won the gold in the women�s doubles defeating Mouma and K Shamini 11-7, 13-11, 11-5 and also the mixed doubles event with team mate Anthony Amalraj. Reigning National champion Anthony Amalraj won the men�s singles title after compatriot Sanil Shetty pulled out due to injury when the game was tied two sets each.
In men�s doubles Sathiyan Ghanasekaran and Devesh Karai defeated Anthony Amlaraj and Sanil Shetty to clinch the gold.
In Wushu, it was another good day for India wining eight gold, one silver and two bronze at the Rising Sports Complex in Latikor.
In the women�s competition (sanshou), India�s grabbed gold in each category of the event. The first gold medal for India was from Yumnam Sanathoi Devi in the 52kg weight category defeating Jharana Gurung of Nepal.
India�s Kesisham Arunpama Devi won a gold medal in the 60kg weight category defeating Juno Rai of Nepal.
Puja Kadian won the Gold in the women�s 70kg weight category after defeating Bindu Pun Magar of Nepal.
In the men�s competition, Uchit Sharma grabbed the gold in the 52 kg category defeating Zahoor Ahmed of Pakistan. In the 56 kg, India�s Ravi Panchal won the gold medal against Rajesh Chaudhry of Nepal.
In the men�s 60 kg category, Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh of India bagged the gold medal defeating PN Balawardhana of Sri Lanka.
In Badminton there was an upset win for India�s Ruthvika Shivani who won the gold over her fancied compatriot PV Sindhu 21-11, 22-20.
