Indian delegation to visit Bagladesh for trade meet

AGARTALA, Oct 27 - Buoyed by the positive outcome of the India-Bangladesh Stakeholders� Meet held in Guwahati recently, an Indian delegation will soon visit the neighbouring country to attend a similar meet to promote trade, commerce and investment, said Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Rameswar Teli.

Talking to reporters at the BJP State headquarters here recently, the minister said that the Guwahati meet would be a game changer as far as promotion of trade and business is concerned with both sides agreeing to meet on a regular basis.

Teli said a number of issues came up for discussion in the meeting, which both the sides would sort out soon. Bangladesh investors are keen to enter the markets in the North East region, he pointed out.

The minister also visited the proposed site for Mega Food Park at Budjungnagar Industrial Estate to assess the progress on the ground. At least 25 entrepreneurs are supposed to set up their ventures in the food park.

�Once the food park becomes operational, there will be at least 1,000 jobs. Besides, farmers will get a good price for their produce. The Food Processing Ministry will render all possible help in this regard,� the minister said.

Teli said the Centre wants to set up a mega food park in every State to create job opportunities. �Currently, 42 mega food parks are operational in the country and five new will come up. Mega food parks will also come up in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Assam soon,� he added.
